No player "loves " the club, as Butler demonstrated when given the chance of higher pay and league at Braintree. Whilst I don't blame him, I know he didn't come back for love, more because they didn't want him and he wanted to play and continue getting paid. Whilst that can be viewed as negative, it's just a statement of the facts.

[quote="IslingtonBob"]Crikey thats a lot of whinging. Fans are entitled to their views, especially the small band of stalkers who go everywhere (I salute you) - but, don't you think you have become a bit addicted to end of season drama? There are five seasons to be had:
1 - The runaway champions.
2 - The playoff hunters.
3 - Mid table fodder, never really in much danger, but not setting the world alight.
4 - Nervy relegation battle.
5 - **** the bed.

Not being 4 or 5 is the number one requirement. 3 is a bit dull, but it has its moments and you get to laugh at others misfortune. 2 is great. 1. This is Hemel. Maybe twice in a lifetime.

My issue doesn't come from being 3. My issue is that when we have the team and potential to be 2 we don't bother trying. You can say it's par for the course at this level but that doesn't make it any less palatable.

For the last couple of seasons we've shown an ambition to be promoted by getting our ground upgraded in time and signing players to give it a go. We fell short but there was no reason to quibble because we actually attempted it. This season we showed no ambition whatsoever and gave up as soon as we were more or less safe despite having a solid team that had plenty to play for. That is my issue with this season.

We might not have made the playoffs. That's fine. It would have been nice to have tried.

Maybe we just don't have the money to go up yet. Anyone thought of that?
I'm quite happy to stay where we are for the time being until the club is ready on AND off the pitch.
Patience fellow Tudors, you know it makes sense

Why did we put all those extra seats in if the plan isn't to get promoted?

We'd all be moaning a hell of a lot more if we'd done a Poole, Hungerford and Wealdstone and qualified for the play offs and then not been able to compete because we didn't have the seats. This is football, things rarely go to plan.

We had to put the extra seats in to get the grading to take part in the play offs. This was a couple of years ago when we had a chance remember?

Unlike this season when we still had a chance of making the play-offs, but then seemingly deciding to give up on the season with five weeks to go....
